2006 was the 100 year anniversary of American Greetings. So to celebrate a Gallery space was rented for a big party: The Spring Fine Art Show. All creatives from all departments were asked to participate. I was honored to design both the poster, the CFE and postcard since I was newly hired. It seems they asked me because my portfolio was very colorful, expressed a reference to nature, and organic shapes. I also found out I was chosen because I could work easily with little direction and just a copy sheet and blank page. I wanted it to be whimsical, have a distinct hierarchy, clean lines, and references to spring.
I collaborated with Chuck Wimmer who was close to retirement and had been with the company 50 years. It was such a fun project that I still to this day have it framed in my house next to the art piece that Chuck created for the show.
American Greetings started Photoworks in 2008. The site allowed you to use your own photos to personalize calendars, puzzles, mouse pads, ornaments, mugs and photobooks. These Prepaid Kits were designed for an endcap with an online gift card to go to our site and create your item you pre-purchased with shipping. The ask was to make it easy for the older demographics to follow the steps to make the product they wanted to personalize without frustration, and giving them the tools to create the perfect personalized gift for their loved one.
